How to Find Affiliate Programs That Work For You

January 6th, 2010

When looking for Affiliate programs it’s important to know both the strengths and weaknesses of these programs. In this article we’ll look at those.

First a little about affiliate marketing:

Affiliate marketing allows anyone an online opportunity to promote products of another company and earn an income from the sales- typically anywhere from 20%-80% of the retail sale. There are several advertising and marketing methods for the services or products including:

Pay-per-click

Article Marketing

Forum Marketing

Pay-per-lead

Pop-ups

These are a few of the most prevalent methods. The level of success in these can be determined by the effort of the affiliate and the actual affiliate program.

Let’s begin with the affiliate program because if you choose a bad one no matter how hard you work your odds of success are low. The good programs have similar qualities.

- They will have high commission rates. To make it worth your time and effort you must pick products that pay well, in excess of 50% at least. Obviously if you market a high cost product at 20% you can still make some money.

- Find a product that appeals to people, and offers good potential to you, but one that not everyone is marketing. Competition is already stiff in this arena so find a product that will stand out.

Perhaps consider something that you or a loved one has an interest in or a need for. Your passion for this product will assist you in promoting it. On the other hand is still must appeal to the masses.

Maybe it’s a product that is beneficial to a hobby of yours. Or maybe it something that will help with a health issue. Also consider whether it has residual sales potential. A product that sells over and over again can mean good income for you.

- Once you’ve determined the right product(s) to promote you must consider the effort and strategies in which you need to exude to be successful.

Though is that treat this like a business, and put together a doable plan, have the best chances for succeeding in this competitive industry,.

The proper strategy involves doing the proper research about the product. Find out what consumers have said about the product. If you’re hard-pressed to find good reviews then you may be wasting your time with that product.

Also be creative and unique in how you promote it. Think about what catches your eye as a consumer and include that with your promotion. Remember that the competition is stiff and those that go the extra mile will reap the rewards.

Best Affiliate Marketing Program

December 31st, 2009

Anyone who has done affiliate marketing at all online knows how important the program is.Now, there are two kinds of affiliate programs: those than teach affiliate marketing, and the programs that you actually market as an affiliate. Believe it or not, many do both! But how do you find the best affiliate marketing program?

Here are a few things to look out for in order to find the best program, and avoid the worst ones.

1.If you learned something from the program, chances are others will too. So, if you find a good affiliate marketing course or program that you learned a lot from, why not promote it? You’ll be able to endorse it whole heartedly knowing how much it helped you, and be able to answer any questions that anyone has before they buy. Additionally, programs made to teach affiliate marketing usually have fantastic tools available for their affiliates, so a lot of the hard work is already done for you. I’m always of fan of others doing my work for me, especially when it’s free!

2.You want a very high conversion rate, and a very low refund rate. While not all programs will offer this information, you can build your own data pretty quickly after 10-20 sales or so. The conversion rate is nothing more that how many sales you get out of 100 visitors, or how many visitors convert to a sale. 1-2% is considered good for a digital product. The refund rate is how many refunds are issued out of 100 sales, and this is an often ignored but very important piece of data. Anything above 5% can get very annoying very quickly, but as long as you’re making money you might as well stay with it.

3.The absolute best affiliate marketing programs often recurring monthly commissions. While most have what is called attrition, monthly commissions are still the way to go. Attrition means that your commission is gradually reduced monthly, to coincide with customers who have opted out of the program. Even with attrition factored in, you are still making very large commissions over the life of one sale, compared to how much you get from a simple one time purchase. So if it all possible, find an affiliate program with monthly billing, so that you get recurring commissions. Then just enjoy the passive income!

If you try to find a program that matches all of this criteria, it should be no problem at all to the the best affiliate program. Promoting these kinds of programs consistently, persistently, and intelligently will virtually guarantee an earl retirement. So jump on the search engines and marketplaces, and start scouring through them all for just the right product. Or, if you don’t want to spend all that time, you can simple look at the program available here. This program is fantastic, I personally use it and it matches of the criteria that we looked at. Give it a try!

Point to Consider When Deciding on an Affiliate Program for Your Online Income Business

December 9th, 2009

You have your own online business website all set up and now need to add a couple of affiliate programs to it to earn you extra income. The problem is that there are just so many affiliate programs available on the internet that it just seems impossible to know which one to choose.

Here are a few tips that may help to make the decision a bit easier;

1. If you find a program that really appeals to you and is right for the niche that you have chosen to work in then start off doing some research on it. Ask questions! Don’t even consider joining an affiliate program before doing some due diligence on it.

2. Will it cost you any money to join? Affiliate programs are generally free to join, so if there is a charge find out what the reason for that charge is and unless you are happy with the answer look for another program.

3. How do they pay their commissions for example is it via Paypal or do they issue checks? If they issue checks is this done monthly or more often and if it is once a month on what date can you expect to be paid?

With many affiliate programs you will be required to reach a certain minimum in commission before the company will issue you with a check. In other words there is a minimum level that you are required to reach before they will post the check out to you.

4. Ask how referrals are tracked for your affiliate website to the company and how long these will remain in the system. It is important that you have sufficient confidence in the affiliate program to know that anyone that you refer to the program or any sales that you make will be credited to you through your referral link.

It is important to know how long these referrals of yours will stay in the system as many people do not buy things immediately. They like to take some time to think it through and will often come back after some time to make the actual purchase. You need to know if you will still benefit from this sale.

5. Find out who the retailer of the affiliate program is. You need to know something about the people you are going to be doing business with and to discover whether or not it is a solid company. This is essential as you do not want to associate your name or your own company brand with a company that is not legitimate. The more you are able to learn about the retailer the easier is will be for you to decide if the affiliate program is the right one for your own online income business.

6. Another point to consider is whether the affiliate program is a one or two tier program. A one tier program will only pay you for work that you personally have done, where as a two tier program pays you a commission for what you have done personally plus any work that is done by people that you may have sponsored into the program.

This type of affiliate program is generally better as you benefit from sponsoring people and earn a residual income with very little extra work. The beauty of residual income is that it will still bring in money for you even when you are unable to work.

Last but not least is what sort of commission the company actually pays. The percentage of the commission will be different in every company so find out what you will be earning per sale before you commit yourself. Look for the programs that offer the higher end commissions as these will be far more beneficial to your business. Remember that the success of your online income business depends how much you will be earning.

How To Use Affiliate Marketing To Benefit Online Home Business Opportunities

December 3rd, 2009

Online home businesses can be started in numerous ways. One of the most popular type of internet business is affiliate marketing. In this article we will take a look at the three types of affiliate marketing models you can use to make money on the internet at home.

1. Pay per click is a way to make money from your website when visitors click on ads provided by the PPC Company you are promoting. Google Adsense is by far the largest affiliate program you can join. However, there are many other affiliate programs offered by the PPC programs that are worth looking into as well.

The advantage of this type of affiliate program is you do not have to sell anything to make money. Although you will not earn as much money as if you would do by selling a product, you can make that up through sheer volume.

2. Cost per action programs are also known as pay per lead programs. There is a lot of potential to make significant amount of money in this type of opportunity.

Cost per action programs pay you money every time when some of your visitors make a specific action. It can be, for example, as easy as giving an email address and permission to receive promotional emails from affiliate program you are involved.

This is so effective way to get people make that action because they do not have purchase anything and it is free for them. There are people making six figure incomes per month doing this type of affiliate marketing.

3. Perhaps the most well-known affiliate programs are pay per sale programs. This type of opportunities pays you a commission every time you sell a product offered by affiliate merchant. Amazon.com is credited with becoming one of the first affiliate programs where you sell their products online.

Many online marketers quickly understand that selling information online is a great way to make a lot of money. People will pay for information if it solves a problem they have.

It is not that hard to build an ebook about something you are interested in and have good knowledge. Alternatively, if you do not want to create a product of your own, you can sell other peoples products and get paid a commission every time you make a sale. ClickBank is an excellent place to find products you want to start promoting. You can also join private label rights affiliate programs and have access to PLR products to sell for your online home business.

The reason why affiliate programs are so popular is that affiliate merchant gives you all the material you need to start your business quick and easy. They give you products, websites, training, support, marketing materials, and much more.

When you are considering online home businesses these three types of affiliate marketing programs can make a lot of money. Learning how to properly implement them into your own home business will be the key to how successful you are doing it.

How To Apply The Concept Of “Never Quitting” To Your Internet Affiliate Marketing Business

November 2nd, 2009

It was Napoleon Hill who wrote (on page 151 of Think And Grow Rich) that “a quitter never wins - and - a winner never quits”.

Those are words that should be pinned up above every Internet affiliate marketer’s computer screen. The fact is that the vast majority of people who try to make money with affiliate marketing on the Internet, fail. Not only do they fail, but they fail miserably and then they quit.

A significant portion of these quitters are serial quitters. They try one affiliate program after another, and when each one proves a little more difficult than was first promised, they give up and move on to a new one.

This is clearly not a recipe for affiliate marketing success on the Internet. One of the key qualities that is needed to make money online, or anywhere else for that matter, is persistence. Napoleon Hill dedicated a whole chapter of “Think And Grow Rich” to persistence, and he said that “the basis of persistence is the power of will”.

So, is it always wrong to quit?

Certainly not.

So was Napoleon Hill wrong to say that a winner never quits?

No, he wasn’t.

The point is that a winner never quits in the pursuit of his ultimate goal, which is the end that he is pursuing. However, in pursuing that end, he will adopt various different means, but he will only stick with those means that prove most effective in getting him where he wants to go. He will quit doing anything that does not advance him towards his ultimate goal.

When he was a boy, Ruben Gonzalez had a dream of taking part in the Olympic Games. He was a soccer player in school, but never made it beyond the second eleven. This was not in spite of persistent effort. In fact, it was only by persistent effort that he got into the second eleven at all since he was not naturally skillful at the sport.

Ruben knew that he would never get to the Olympics playing soccer. His strength was not athletic skill, but persistence, as he had proved to himself as a soccer player.

Ruben therefore “quit” soccer and went in search of a sport where his strong quality of persistence would be an advantage. This led him to take up the luge. As I write this article, Ruben, now in his mid-40s, is training to participate in his fourth Winter Olympics as a “luger” for the Argentinian team.

As Ruben says, “Don’t mistake the vehicle for the dream.”

Ruben “quit” soccer to become a luger - but not a loser!

It is the same with Internet affiliate marketing. While it is true that the high attrition rate in affiliate marketing is due to the fact that most people quit too early, there are also occasions when it makes sense to drop an affiliate program that is not working.

Of course, it is important to research affiliate programs, the company behind them, and the people who set up the company before you commit yourself to marketing the products and services offered by the program. It is also important that you study and apply the techniques of Internet affiliate marketing to your own promotional efforts.

If you have done all that, and are still failing to get results, then you should certainly drop the program and find one that works better for you.

One vital aspect of affiliate marketing is list building. As your list grows, you will be able to market your products by sending out information to your list members. As your list grows, it makes sense to start promoting a whole range of affiliate products so that you can generate repeat sales. This will give you a great opportunity to test the effectiveness of various affiliate products. Those that sell well and generate good profits will be the ones that you will want to focus on promoting harder.

Remember, you are (or should be) in affiliate marketing because you think it is the most effective, enjoyable or convenient way for you to achieve greater goals. Don’t be afraid to drop any program that does not get you closer to your goals. Affiliate programs are vehicles, not dreams, so don’t be afraid to “quit” promoting an affiliate program that is not working; but never quit on your dreams.
